JAMB CAPS- JAMB Central Admission Processing System

What is JAMB CAPS?

In the year 2017, Joint Admission Matriculation Board introduced Central Admission Processing System, which is popularly called JAMB CAPS.  Since then it is via Jamb caps that you can check and accept Jamb admission.

Therefore, it is essential for candidates to know what JAMB CARPS is all about and to know how to operate it.

We will take a look at different key notes you need to know about this system. They are:

Those that will process CAPS Admission:

Three People majorly in the admission process of CAPS, they are; the Vice Chancellors / Registrars / Provost, the School Admissions Officer, and JAMB official. These are the People that are involved in the admission process of CARPS and each has a different responsibility.

Admission Factors in CAPS

JAMB and institutions stakeholders do have Policy Meeting; in this meeting, JAMB will as each institution to sets the Cut Off Mark and other Institution specific parameters such as other Admissions Criteria like screening and Post UTME.

Also, there is Merit, Catchment area, and educational less developed state (ELDS) as part of the factors.

Post UTME Result:

For schools that will conduct Post UTME like BUK, UNILAG, and others, the results are being considered as admission factor by schools. The results will upload to CAPS to obtain aggregate scores for the candidates.

JAMB CAPS Policy Meeting:

The purpose of holding Policy Meeting is to determine the general Cut off marks and each institution to determine their Cut off marks and admission criteria. The meeting holds with Heads of Tertiary Institution and Regulators to determine, among others.

JAMB CAPS Market Place Operations

This is another great update on JAMB Platform. The Market Place feature in CAPS makes it easy for the Institutions to source for candidates who did not have earlier chosen the institution for considering them for admission.

Such Institutions may use different selection parameters such as UTME score, State, Gender, course, or any other parameters of the Candidates.

Then, the List of Candidates selected from the Market Place will be sent to JAMB who will then notify the Candidates of the consideration by Institutions. The candidate then can choose to ACCEPT or REJECT the Market Place offer.

Any consideration on market with by any institution will be instantly effective on candidate portal.

Jamb CAPS portal is usually enabled for each year admission processes.

HOW TO ACCESS JAMB CAPS PORTAL

As aforesaid, JAMB CAPS portal is to check admission status and also accept or reject. Now, here is the guild and how to access the portal below.

  1. Visit Jamb e-facility login portal by clicking http://www.jamb.org.ng/efacility (preferably with a PC).
  2. Enter your Email address and Password you use to register during registration.
  3. Click on the Option tab at the top right corner (4 parallel horizontal lines)
  4. From the list of drop-down Menu, click on CAPS under Admissions
  5. If you only see Welcome, try to use a PC to access the portal. If you want to use Android phones, use browsers like Chrome or Firefox. Then, request for the desktop site from the list of options in Chrome or Firefox.

 

What you need to know before checking JAMB CAPS portal

  1. If you see “ADMITTED” in your portal on any institution, it means you have been offered admission by that institution. You are then to ‘ACCEPT’ or ‘REJECT’ offered admission
  2. If you find “RECOMMENDED“ on your portal, it means a candidate is opened to other institutions.
  3. You’re not expected to accept If your portal reads “not admitted“, anyone who does that do it at his/her risk.
  4. If you find “admission in progress, check back later“, it simply your school is processing admission list or they are yet to release all batch.
  5. You are not advised to use the CAPS portal until your school of choice has released the admission list.
  6. Once you click on ACCEPT an admission offer, it cannot be reverted.
  7. If you find “APPROVED “on your portal, it means Jamb has approved your admission and you have been admitted.
  8. If Candidate Rejects Admission, such candidate becomes available in the Market Place for further possible consideration for Admissions.
